Bernd Lohaus

Stone / Bronze presents two monumental outdoor stone sculptures: the ten-part work TEIL / GELEBT–GELIEBT from 1987 and the work GLUT from 1990, both installed in the garden of Resethome.Inside the house and in the nearby warehouse—converted into an exhibition space—various bronze sculptures engage in a dialogue with the architecture of Resethome and its surroundings. As a representative of the European avant-garde, the work of Bernd Lohaus (b. 1940, Düsseldorf – d. 2010, Antwerp) has been extensively exhibited over the past decades, both in Belgium and internationally. In 1992, Lohaus participated in documenta IX, curated by Jan Hoet, and his work was shown in renowned institutions such as the SMAK, Ghent (2005), the Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven (1979), the Kunstmuseum Düsseldorf (1980), and later at MAC’s Grand-Hornu (2013) and M HKA, Antwerp. The exhibition Bernd Lohaus: Stone / Bronze is made possible thanks to the generous support of the Bernd Lohaus Foundation and Tommy Simoens, Antwerp
