Bernd Lohaus: Stone / Bronze presents two monumental outdoor sculptures in stone: the ten-part work TEIL / GELEBT–GELIEBT from 1987 and the work GLUT from 1990, both presented in the garden of Resethome. Inside the house and in the nearby warehouse—renovated into an exhibition space—various bronze sculptures enter into dialogue with the architecture of Resethome and its surroundings. As a proponent of the European avant-garde, the works of Bernd Lohaus (b. 1940, Düsseldorf – d. 2010, Antwerp) have been widely exhibited over the past decades, both in Belgium and internationally. In 1992, Lohaus participated in documenta IX, curated by Jan Hoet, and his work has been shown in renowned institutions such as SMAK, Ghent (2005), the Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven (1979), the Kunstmuseum Düsseldorf (1980), and later at MAC’s Grand-Hornu (2013) and M HKA, Antwerp. The exhibition Bernd Lohaus: Stone / Bronze is made possible thanks to the generous support of the Bernd Lohaus Foundation and Tommy Simoens, Antwerp.
